INTERVIEW WITH DAMIAN HICKS, MANAGING DIRECTOR OF HANNANNS REWARD (HNR)
“Manganese Drilling to Commerce at Jigalong”
http://www.brr.com.au/event/50831
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2008, 12:00 PM.
BRR Today on Boardroom Radio we’re joined by Mr. Damian Hicks, the Managing Director of Hannans Reward. Damian, great to have you back on Boardroom
10 Radio.
HNR Thanks, Joel.
BRR Damian, you’ve made a release to the market today in relation to some exploration plans for manganese at your Jigalong Project, we’ve talked
15 previously about the iron ore targets that you have been focusing on up there. Could you tell our listeners a little bit about the plans for the manganese that you have?
HNR Sure Joel, with over the last number of months we’ve done quite a bit of work on early stage manganese exploration that’s included field mapping by our
20 technical team, reviewing mapping conducted by the Geological Survey with Australia. As a result of that work, we went and took a number of rock chip samples which assayed back encouraging manganese levels. We’ve also just completed a very large gravity survey. We put all that information together and placed to be out there doing an assay drill program to test those targets.
25
BRR So Damian, at least the initial phase of the drilling, what have you got planned? How much do you intend doing?
HNR Yeah, sure Joel. This will be the first assay program to drill test the manganese targets within the Jigalong Project that’s quite interesting from a
30 regional perspective, it’s where in an area that we call the ace pilgrim manganese province, from the north starting at Woodi Woodi and then heading south through Sunday Hill and Ant Hill, down to Balfour Downs which is owned by an ASX company, Mineral Resource Limited and down to the Hannans Reward Jigalong Project where we’ll be testing for manganese. So
35 it’s a very well endowed area for manganese and it’s outcropping at the surface. As to the width or the grade that comes back from assay drill testing, that’s what we’re about to test. So, Jigalong is an interesting project. Obviously for the iron, but manganese is a commodity that’s in high demand. We’ve done the preliminary work and we’re about to test it with assay drilling,
40 so that’s pretty exciting.
BRR Now Damian, now you’ve mentioned the surface outcropping. It must be like a bit of sea ore exploration team in comparison to the iron ore targets which were of course covered at surface.
45 HNR That’s exactly right. The manganese in the northern part of the project outcrops and you know when you’re walking across the surface, its bedded manganese, it’s not transported from anywhere. It does make it a lot easier when you can see what you’re drill targeting, and down south, generally, it’s a very flat area. However, there is a hill that extends for about 4 kilometres and there is mapped manganese by our team, outcropping for about just over one kilometre. So, we’ve done the work and it does make drill targeting significantly easier. So, we’re quite excited to see when it returns.
5 BRR Well Damian, all the best for the drilling, it’s one more certainly we’ll follow closely and we’ll have you on air to have a chat about and to see it back in the results. Thanks for your time today and thanks for talking to Boardroom Radio.
HNR Thank Joel, we also look forward to the results from the manganese and also
10 some results from the iron drilling in the short term. Thank you very much.
BRR Now remember, if you have any questions about Damian’s broadcast today or about Hannans Reward operations, generally, please feel free to send through an e-mail. The address is brr@brr.com.au or you can use the
