BRR Good morning and welcome to Boardroom Radio. Today, we are speaking with Mr. Kevin Wills, Managing Director of Maximus Resources. Thanks for
10 joining us today, Kevin.
MXR Good morning, Eddie.
BRR Kevin, we see you’ve made an announcement in regards to a survey that you’ve recently completed in the Narndee area. Could you give us some
15 details of whereabouts this survey actually is and why you did this survey.
MXR Yeah, sure. It’s mostly located near Mount Magnet in the Yilgarn Craton from Western Australia where there’s a lot of mines in that area. In fact, the complex that we’re surveying is called the Windimurra/Narndee complex and it contains a lot of mineral prospects. It’s actually called a layered mafic
20 complex and it’s actually very similar in age and geology to the Bushveld Complex in South Africa. That complex contains the world’s largest deposits of platinum, chromium, vanadium, and other metals. So we’ve actually got an area which we’re surveying which has got a lot of potential for those commodities: platinum, chromium, nickel, copper-zinc, uranium, vanadium,
25 and so on. And we’ve just actually completed the survey now.
BRR Kevin, could you just actually give us a bit more details about this survey itself. Things like what type of technology is being used and any other details you can let us know.
30 MXR Sure. This is what we call an airborne EM survey, which EM stands for electromagnetics. And we’ve got a particular variety of that called REPTEM, which is very high-tech, state of the art type electronics and computer programming and so on. And what happens is that what we’re looking for is conductive anomalies beneath the surface of some electrically conductive
35 anomalies. So, what we do is we fly over a loop which has got a current in it underneath a helicopter and this loop is about 20 meters across and it’s flown about 30 meters above the ground. And there is a generator in the helicopter which puts current in the loop. And that creates a magnetic field and if there’s anything in the ground near the surface which is conductive, a secondary
40 magnetic field is created and that’s detected by the detector. So basically, if you get an nice blip on your records, you know you’ve got something interesting at depth and often we can see things say at 100 or 200 meters depth that you can’t see at the surface. So we’ve basically been surveying the area we think is highly prospective looking for these conductors and then
45 fortunately we found few too.
BRR And Kevin, what were the results that you found from the survey you recently completed?
MXR Well, we’ve just got, in fact, only yesterday finished off the whole survey and some infill. So far we’ve just done what we call the first part interpretation, which means looking at the original flight records. There is a lot more processing yet to do. But some of the interesting targets that have come out
5 so far, we’ve got five anomalies that we showed on the map in our announcement yesterday, 1 to 5, one of those number 3 is particularly interesting because it’s a very strong conductor which we showed in figure 5 and also it is located near some gossans in the surface which have got anomalous levels of copper and zinc in. So we’ve basically already got some
10 interesting things to follow up.
BRR And lastly Kevin, just wondering if you could tell us what’s next in Maximus Resources.
MXR Well, to follow up these targets, what we have to do is get in on the ground
15 next. We know exactly where to go now and considering we’ve been flying an area of 5500 square kilometres and that there’s 14,000 mine kilometres of airborne electromagnetic flown. And we’ve narrowed it down, initially at this stage, five or six really interesting places and we know exactly where they are. So we’ll be able to go there on the ground and have a look around first
20 and if there’s anything interesting to make a geological map and then we’ll probably do what’s called ground EM which is the same technique, electromagnetics, but on the ground. You put a loop on the ground of wire, put a current in it, and do the same sort of thing as you do in the air, but you get much better results on the ground because the current goes into the
25 ground much better. And then if it still looks interesting, we’ll get out there with a drill rig and drill a hole into it and see if we make a discovery. What we’re particularly looking for here is some massive sulphides which are the minerals which you can get in either nickel deposits or copper-zinc deposits. There are several deposit flat bed already known in the Yilgarn Craton and
30 we’re hoping to find some more. So this work is gonna start up soon and hopefully by about November we’ll be drilling holes and making some new discoveries.
