INTERVIEW WITH DAMIAN HICKS, MANAGING DIRECTOR OF HANNANS REWARD LIMITED (HNR)
“Iron Mineralisation Intersected In Initial Phase Of Drilling”
http://www.brr.com.au/event/49387
THURSDAY, AUGUST 14, 2008, 9:30 AM.
BRR Good morning and welcome to Boardroom Radio. Today, we are speaking with Mr. Damian Hicks, Managing Director of Hannans Reward. Thanks for
10 joining us today, Damian.
HNR No problem, Eddie.
BRR Damian, you have announced today the initial feedback on drilling at Jigalong has yielded some encouraging results. What have you come across so far?
15 HNR Thanks, Eddie. On the 4th of August, just prior to the Diggers and Dealers Conference, we updated the market about the drilling at Jigalong. We are pleased to say that we have intersected iron mineralisation in the drilling. We are not sure of the assays at this point, but the key task of this particular program was to intersect the feature which was completely covered by
20 transported sands, and we think we have successfully managed to do that.
BRR Damian, out of this drilling project, what is Hannans trying to achieve?
HNR Eddie, the aim of this program is to confirm the extent of the iron mineralisation at the Hannans Jigalong Project. It is our belief, based on
25 gravity surveys and magnetic surveys, that the feature we are targeting is approximately 8 kilometres in length, but we do not know that because it is all under transported cover. So what we are trying to achieve on this drilling program is to obtain a number of drill sections across that feature at regular intervals, maybe between 500 metres and 1 kilometre interval, and hopefully
30 intersect high grade iron just to confirm that this feature does exist and that it is approximately 8 kilometres in length. If the assay results come back and they suggest that iron is greater than 55% and has low impurities, then we will be in a position to say potentially that this feature may have the potential for X number of tonnes iron. Once this proof of concept phase has been
35 completed, then the next phase will actually be hopefully to take the project to a resource level in different areas within that 8 kilometre feature if the assays justify that additional drilling campaign. We anticipate that we will have approximately another 25 holes to drill on the project and that may take two to three weeks to complete those 25 holes, depending upon the squeeze of any
40 drilling that we encounter going forward. We have already put one batch of samples into the laboratory for analysis and we hope to get another batch in this week. Therefore, results from the drilling should be coming through over the next month onwards. There is a small possibility that we may be able to also test some manganese targets during these initial phases of RC drilling,
45 and if so, that will definitely be the cream on the cake to confirm some of the early stage manganese exploration results we have got so far.
BRR Damian, we also see you have bolstered your team, adding some extra people on down there. Did you want to give our listeners just an update on the additional people in the team?
HNR Yes, sure, Eddie. Our Exploration Manager, Amanda Arrowsmith, is running
5 the Company's exploration generally, but she is very ably assisted by a number of senior experienced consultants including John Stockley who has assisted Amanda with the development of the Jigalong project. But we are also very pleased to recently have engaged another consultant, Mr. John Bridson, to help Amanda and John take the project forward. Mr. John Bridson
10 was previously the Exploration Manager of the Sinosteel-Midwest Joint Venture, developing the world range haematite and Koolanooka magnetite projects. So it is excellent to have John on board and to have such an experienced iron ore geologist on our team to assist and to complement our existing team including Amanda and John. So, slowly building the team, the
15 project is developing, and over the next couple of months, it is going to be a very interesting time for exploration results within Hannans.
BRR Damian, you have also reported the support you have been receiving from the community at Jigalong. How has this assisted Hannans?
20 HNR Eddie, Jigalong community has been long-term supporters of Hannans Reward and we are very appreciative of that, particularly Mr. Brian Samson, one of the senior elders at Jigalong. This support has enabled us to continue exploration whilst making our heritage commitments in the Jigalong Aboriginal Reserve. So it is a very positive relationship that we hope at the
25 end of the day will work well for both the members of the community and the company shareholders.
BRR Definitely some promising times ahead at Hannans Reward. We thank you for your time today and we look forward to speaking to you soon.
30 HNR Thanks, Eddie. No problem.
