INTERVIEW WITH BRAD SAMPSON, MANAGING DIRECTOR OF DISCOVERY METALS LIMITED (DML)
“Massive Copper Anomalies Defined At Quirinus”
http://www.brr.com.au/event/49240
THURSDAY, AUGUST 7, 2008, 4:30 PM.
BRR Good afternoon and welcome to Boardroom Radio. Today, we are speaking with Mr. Bradley Sampson, Managing Director of Discovery Metals Limited.
10 Thanks for joining us today, Brad.
DML Thanks, Eddie. It is good to be with you.
BRR Brad, we see today you have made an announcement in regard to the results coming out of the soil geochemical survey at Quirinus and see that you have
15 found a massive copper anomaly. Did you want to give our listeners some details about that?
DML Yes, Eddie. We have released the soil geochemical results today from the regional exploration program that has been underway at the Quirinus Prospect, and for our listeners, the Quirinus Prospect is located very close to
20 existing resources we have at Zeta, Plutus and Petra, so it is only about 15 kilometres away from the existing mineral resource we have there. So Quirinus is really the first prospect that we have explored away from our current mineral resource. We have completed soil geochemical surveys at 200-metre space sections along 22 kilometres now of the Quirinus structure,
25 and I am very excited by the results. Of the 22 kilometres surveyed, we have got copper anomalies now on 13.4 kilometres and there are two very large anomalies, one that is 8 kilometres long and one that is well over 3 kilometres long. It is quite interesting to see an 8-kilometre long copper anomaly. It is very similar in nature to Zeta and Plutus when they were first discovered. So
30 for us, it is a very exciting development. We know that this area is mineralised because when we started this regional soil geochemical program at Quirinus, we very early on put three reverse circulation holes and hit copper-silver mineralisation, very similar grade (inaudible) (0:01:37), very similar mineralogy to that that we have found in Zeta, Plutus and Petra. So for us,
35 this is a very exciting development and it bodes very well for increased resources in the area.
BRR Brad, what does this mean for your Boseto Project and the pre-feasibility study just completed?
40 DML Thanks, Eddie. With regard to the Boseto Project in its whole, I guess what this discovery at Quirinus does is affirm what our view has been all along, that our tenement package is well endowed with copper-silver mineralisation and that there is a lot more there for us to find. We have now identified a target at Quirinus that is within trucking distance of where we intend to build the
45 concentrator at the Boseto project. So the Quirinus discovery really positions us nicely to build and potentially grow the resource that will feed the Boseto concentrator and extend the project life or maybe allow us to increase the scale of the project as well. The other thing it does is again affirm our longstanding view that we are in a very prospective part of the world. We have got something like 1300 strike kilometres of potentially mineralised rocks, and the Quirinus discovery actually starts to really demonstrate the potential of the tenement package. So, we know we have got the right exploration techniques. We know we have got the right tools to get across our
5 tenements really quickly, and now over the next few years, we will get across all of our very large tenement package and conduct regional soil surveys right across the 12,100 square kilometres of tenements that we have in Northwest Botswana. So, I guess the great thing about this discovery is it does two things. It potentially extends the life of our project and it confirms the
10 prospectivity of our tenement package.
BRR Certainly some exciting times there for Discovery Metals Limited. We thank you for your time today, Brad, and we look forward to speaking to you soon. That was Brad Sampson, Managing Director of Discovery Metals Limited. If
15 you have any questions about this broadcast or any other broadcast, please feel free to contact us on brr@brr.com.au. I am Eddie (inaudible) (0:03:36) and thank you for listening to Boardroom Radio.
