INTERVIEW WITH WAYNE BRAMWELL, MANAGING DIRECTOR OF KASBAH RESOURCES LIMITED (KAS)
“Achmmach Tin Project Achieves Exploration Objective”
http://www.brr.com.au/event/48825
THURSDAY, AUGUST 7, 2008, 11:30 AM.
BRR Today, Boardroom Radio speaks with the Managing Director of Kasbah Resources, Mr. Wayne Bramwell. Welcome to Boardroom Radio, Wayne.
10 KAS Thanks for that, Terence.
BRR Wayne, could you provide an update to shareholders and investors on the Achmmach Tin Project that you are working on at the moment?
KAS No problem. Thanks, Terence. It is a good time to update the investors as to
15 where we are because we have advanced the project quite significantly. Just starting on the presentation on Slide 2, it is a good point to recap the exploration strategy.
The Phase 1 of our drilling program at Achmmach was focused on the
20 eastern end, following up some shallow high-grade dips previously found by the Moroccan Mines Department. The plan was then to move to Phase 2 to start the test, the known underground mineralisation found by the BRPM. Phase 3 was to follow on from Phase 2 to further extend the underground mineralisation. That zone now we call Meknes zone, around the existing
25 underground drilling and exploration.
Going into Phase 1, just to recap for investors what the objective was and what we achieved. The objective of Phase 1, as I said, was to test for shallow open pit targets in the eastern zone. In the Phase 1 programme, we drilled
30 over 4000 metres of diamond and put in 17 diamond holes. What we found from that drilling can be seen in Slide 7. The majority of the best grades and widths we saw in the area were at depth. Now it should be reminded that this is a hill. Achmmach is not flat; it is a hill. So when we are starting to see the intersections and good grade, they are at 250 to 300 metres. We can drive in
35 exactly at that level on that side of the hill and drill and take out this mineralisation.
Moving onto Phase 2. Phase 2, again, was focused above the existing underground workings. The objective of this phase was to test for vertical and
40 lateral extensions of the Meknes zone by drilling above, below, and to the eastern side of that underground development. Slide 10 gives you a better idea of where those holes are located, with Holes 18 and 19 above and below the Meknes zone, Hole 20 to the east, and Holes 21 and 22 further to the east. Slide 11 is just another view of our results and what we have found. We
45 have started this in Hole 19, very good width and good grades above the underground workings. In Hole 18, very good width and promising grades underneath the underground working. Our best result to date was AD020 to the east of the Meknes zone, effectively extending out the known mineralisation. The 46.3 metres at 0.8 is a great width and the grade is very, very encouraging. Slide 12 is another view of the result in AD020, just trying to reinforce to the investors that what we are saying is we are starting to see the Meknes zone grow to the east and in a vertical and lateral extent. Slide 13 just recaps our best drilling intercepts and it is very, very encouraging. We
5 start to see these types of grades and widths. We have got a mixture here of very, very broad widths at 0.8% and 0.9% tin in combination with great widths, 12 metres at 1.2% tin. That is a very high-grade interval.
To recap the results of Phase 2, effectively, we have extended the Meknes
10 zone in this round of drilling, 100 metres vertically and 50 metres laterally. The results for the last hole in this program, Hole 22, will not be available for a week or so yet. Once they are available, we will update the market as to what that actually means. What we are very, very excited about is we have identified a new zone of mineralisation in Hole 21, to the north and below the
15 Meknes zone. We are now trying to understand how that ties in to the existing Meknes zone and what it actually means. Some other promising indications of the size and the extent of this system can be seen in Hole 21 and some of the mineralisation we saw in one of our Phase 1 holes, AD016. AD016 and AD021 are over 500 metres apart. We are seeing the same type of
20 mineralisation on the bottom of those holes and that is inferring that there is some sort of connection between the two. We do not know if that is true or what that connection is and we are doing further assessments to see whether what is happening in between 21 and 16 should be reinforced. Achmmach is 2 kilometres long, this hill. In Phase 1, we drilled 650 metres of the eastern
25 end. In Phase 2, we have drilled 650 metres of the western end. For us, there is still a big gap in our data and our understanding in the middle. Hole AD022, results are pending and we are hoping to have those very shortly.
So, for Phase 2, we achieved the exploration objective of extending the
30 Meknes zone up and down. Based upon this success, we have rolled straight into the Phase 3 programme, which was a planned 6000-metre programme to continue to test the Meknes zone just to start to see how wide and how long this thing is and also to start to follow up the intercept we have got on AD021.
35 Terence, that is basically a quick snapshot of where we are with this project's thrust. It is very early days for us, but it continues to encourage us with the grades and widths that we are seeing. So, all in all, our current results plus where the LME price is tuned at the moment bode quite well for Kasbah going forward.
40
BRR Wayne, thanks very much for that comprehensive update today on the tin project.
