Pay growth slows in the year to September 2008
Comparison of pay growth (including and excluding bonuses)
Average earnings including bonuses rose by 3.3 per cent in the year to September 2008, down from 3.4 per cent in August. Average earnings excluding bonuses, or regular pay, rose by 3.6 per cent in the year to September 2008, unchanged from August.
In the year to September pay growth (including bonuses) in the private sector stood at 3.1 per cent compared with 3.9 per cent for the public sector. Excluding bonus payments growth, in the private sector stood at 3.6 per cent compared with 3.9 per cent for the public sector.
