0.2% 3 monthly fall into October
Index of Services (2003 =100) percentage growth
Services output fell by 0.2 per cent in the three months to October compared with the previous three months and follows a fall of 0.5 per cent in the three months to September. This is the fourth consecutive three months on previous three months decrease.
• Distribution output fell by 2.5 per cent in the three months to October. In the latest three months all components decreased; the most significant falls were in wholesale and motor trades.
• Hotels and restaurants output rose by 0.2 per cent in the three months to October. The most significant increases were in canteens and catering and public houses and bars.
• Transport, storage and communication output increased by 0.4 per cent in the three months to October. The most significant increase was in post and telecommunications.
• Business services and finance output fell by 0.2 per cent in the three months to October. The most significant decrease was in other business services.
• Government and other services output rose by 0.6 per cent in the three months to October. The most significant increase was in health and social work; the next most significant increase was in education.
Services output between September and October rose by 0.6 per cent. The most significant increase was in business services and finance.
