Pay growth slows in the year to June 2008
Comparison of pay growth (including and excluding bonuses)
Average earnings including bonuses rose by 3.4 per cent in the year to June 2008, down from 3.8 per cent in May. Average earnings excluding bonuses, or regular pay, rose by 3.7 per cent in the year to June, down from 3.8 per cent in May.
In the year to June, pay growth (including bonuses) in the private sector stood at 3.5 per cent compared with 3.3 per cent for the public sector. Excluding bonus payments, private sector growth stood at 3.7 per cent, compared with 3.8 per cent for the public sector.
