Pay growth steady in the year to October 2008
Comparison of pay growth (including and excluding bonuses)
Average earnings including bonuses rose by 3.3 per cent in the year to October 2008, unchanged from September. Average earnings excluding bonuses, or regular pay, rose by 3.6 per cent in the year to October 2008, unchanged from September.
In the year to October pay growth (including bonuses) in the private sector stood at 3.2 per cent compared with 3.8 per cent for the public sector. Excluding bonus payments, growth in the private sector stood at 3.6 per cent compared with 3.7 per cent for the public sector.
